Only 15 guys have run sub-5:00 pace on that course since they started using it 17 years ago. J. Torres (who did it four times) has the record at 24:07. I'm sure he could have run 22:07 on a flat, sea-level 8K course that day. That's 4:27 a mile, equal to maybe 27:45 - 27:50 on the track for 10K.

The women's course is even slower because like the men's it includes two trips up Jawbone compressed into a race less than 3/4 as long. Jenny Barringer averaged 5:28 pace in hr CR 19:25 run and only she and Kara Goucher have broken 20:00.

The course is even slower than balls. No faster than a weak ejaculatory trickle, I'd say.

Shows CU got their miles in over the summer. Not that Wetmore is the kind of coach that allow any slacking to occur.

If their training is still similar to the RWTB days they've probably only done a few tempos/fartleks after a summer of high mileage steady runs. Time for the real work to begin. Real racing starts with the Shootout.

None of the top guys ran the time trial in RWTB. Looks a lot of the top guys raced this year.

You are right. We will see where things stand at the Shootout. Looks like a good group for Wetmore.

The point was tis group is a little faster than RWTB, but you've overestimated the disparity. This current group is still pretty similar in talent to the RWTB group.
