Actually, Alexa is the only athlete to ever place top 3 at the World Youth Games, finishing with a bronze medal. This year she finished 6th as a 17 year old. Cain has a better resume, but their might be room for 2 great young females, actually 3. Alexa also ran faster than Slaney.

It may also say that College coaches need to step up their game. That not one 22yo (College Snr) woman broke 4.10 is not good when HSers and/or Youth (17/u) are.

Heck even at Oregon (supposedly the best program in the country), Leblanc came in as a 2.03 800m runner, two years later she still hasn't run faster!!

The point being that going Pro isn't necessarily the answer, but having expectations that competent coaching and a program geared to individual development and not just team points should be required.

It is the glass half full/half empty scenario. Are these HSers that good and College runners (or the coaching perhaps)that bad? Likely a bit of both.

Could probably be doing better if Hickey wasn't her coach. She has vastly underperformed in the 5k which was her primary event before turning professional. Hickey is a fan of speedwork and more speedwork. Absolutely ignores aerobic development.

You might be wrong my friend. She just ran a 6 mile tempo in 31:39 on a soft bark loop, with a slight hill (32 street, 1/2 mile from Grant HS.) Keep hating my friend. Hate will kill your soul.
