There has only been three post-war British medalists in the Olympic marathon. Tom Richards in 1948 and Charlie Spedding in 1984 - but I doubt either of those were born in 1933! So the answer must be Basil Heatley - silver in Tokyo 1964, behind Abebe Bikila. I guess he may have won the old International Cross Country Champs when it was held in France and I'm sure he won the English National several times.
