Flannagon looks quite stunned in those pictures at the end. Anyone else think that? How about Joanie's face? It's as if she's sayin.. "How dare you beat my gal"?

From the Midwest reading this dribble. I personally think that women like Gemme, shalane, and Jordan all deserve kudos. Not many people can run that fast. I don't understand all the hate towards these runners. What's wrong with you all?????? There's more important things in life than taking your frustrations out on this board. And why the moderators allow for such nonsense is beyond me. They are not ethically and morally smart businessmen.
That's just shalane's roid rage coming through.
The photo gallery someone posted, Runner's World or Running Times, I believe, claims this was Gemma Steel's biggest victory of her ENTIRE CAREER. I mean, it seems like the race organizers, participants, cheerers and American running journalists are just totally biased against this Britisher, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If you have qualms with someone, be upfront about it.

Shalane is hero worshiped on these parts by a fairly myopic set who innately believe in her superiority as an athlete is in the Radcliffe league.
What I don't get from the pictures was how Flannagan was recorded only a tenth of a second behind Steele? Was the last 100m at sub 10s pace?
No one is biased against Gemma, Pumpkin Eater. Race organizers biased against her? She gets invited to any major American road race she wants. Journalists? They all wrote that she won. What are you reading into this?
Gemma calls Hasay "the little girl".
And letsrun's pedophiles say: "Doo do doo do doo do do doo..."
True. Gemma Steel twice winner of the English Cross Country Championships in the last 3 years, placed 2nd and 3rd in the European Cross Country Championships in the same time period, 7th at the World Half Marathon Championships, road 10k pb of 31.26 set this year, a few seconds faster than last year. Prolific and successful road race runner.
Shalane Flanagan road 10k pb of 31.41. Many results from shorter distances on the track though a faster half marathon pb. No pbs since 2011 over regular racing distances.
I'd say that race went pretty much to form then. No big surprises. Gemma is the athlete in form and possibly still on the way up as perhaps has been under-exposed on the track in the past to get the real fast times there. Why on earth would you think someone of that prolific a racing background would be on drugs?

The pictures of gemma crossing the finish line don't show shalane because the organizers funnel the winner to the far right to break the tape while the 2nd place and beyond are funneled to the other side of the finish line. Most road races do this. About 20 yards before the finish, gemma had a 2 step lead on shalane and so the organizer pre-finish separated the two runners to either side of the finish line for proper photo-ops. In the end, shalane was about 1.5-2 steps "behind" gemma although in reality she was about 10 feet to the left as well.
Has anyone noticed that since the 2012 Olympics or so, Flanagan has crossed the line at several races and just been toast. Excellent runner but don't think that 2:18 is going to happen in Berlin. 2:22 tops.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
