I'm assuming Hoka doesn't have flats/couldn't make them in time?
Also where are the results?
He was still wearing Nike spikes at Sacramento for Nationals too. As much as people want to rip on them no one can question that Nike makes awesome racing shoes.
Definitely Nikes are still the best. They make best shoes and haters can keep on hating and running slow.
Can't find full results but it was JMac by .01 over Manzano. Winning time 4:02.93.
GG over Kampf. 4:31.68

They're trainers are good too, but I prefer their frees for trainers.

Zoom Streak XC3 it looks like? I don't know if the LT has come in that coloring yet. Good shoe and not surprising. Hoka just doesn't have the ability to make this kind of shoes like Nike... At least they have their ultra guys wearing their stuff. The North Face makes obscenely bad shoes and none of their top guys wear their shoes at all in races... Rob Krar races in Nike, Hal Koerner in Adidas, and Timothy Olson in Pearl Izumi. Pretty funny to see them with North Face logos on their clothes and giving interviews about how great TNF shoes are, but racing in other brands.
could that get him fired? are you going to pick out his expenses if they see this thread and fire him?think before your post, will this revelation cause a runner to lose a quarter of a million per year contract never mind bonus money?

Uhhh who cares if it gets him fired. If he is under an exclusive contact he shouldn't put himself in a pair of nikes at a big even. Or ever.

You're kidding, right? Of course this won't get him fired. If he's going to race in Nikes, they're going to know about it beforehand. Hoka obviously doesn't have a shoe light enough for a road mile event, so they're not going to force him to run in something that will make him less competitive.
Great advertising hook-
"Hoka 11 shoes are so good I don't even have to wear them to win"

think hal was actually in lunarracers at speedgoat... which is absurd to me. saw another kid in asics gel lyte 3s... a shoe i've had a rock fully puncture the outsole in (but a great shoe on smooth stuff).
He was wearing Hoka's at the awards ceremony- there's a FB picture. I know why he wears Hoka- they make him like 2" taller.
Seriously- I was wondering if they even had racing shoes. Apparently they don't.
I can tell you a couple things about this:
First, HOKA's contract with Manzano says he can race / do his speed work in anything he wants right now, as HOKA continues to develop its line. Manzano has been very up front with this - saying that he does training runs in HOKAs, and even some tempo-type stuff, but nothing faster. I assume that HOKA has made the same deal with its other mid-D runners (Rutt, Nicole Schappert), but I don't know for certain.
Second, HOKA does have a prototype spike which is being developed. I've seen it and it looks pretty great - very light. I know Manzano has at least given the prototype a test race, but it's not yet a finished product ready for market.
Third, I don't know this for sure, but I would assume that HOKA is also developing racing flats.
No, I do not work for HOKA, nor am I sponsored by them (God, I wish I were that fast). But I like what they are doing. The running shoe industry could use a little shakeup!!
How can they not have race results finished for this thing? They had small groups in the races and they can't even get results out. How shitty is that I know middle school meets in the middle of nowhere that have live results. This is just pathetic

Yes it is. Anyone can send computer results out no matter how "primitive" the scoring system.

Good post.
It is funny how shocked everyone gets about the idea of an athlete using...wait for it...A VARIETY OF SHOES. Stop the press!
Dunbar led the race up until about 15 yards. He had a 10 meter lead or so with 100 to go Mac started his kick before Manzano which allowed him to hold Manzano off for the $4,000 1st place prize money.
The new line of Adidas spikes are pretty great, I love both my Cadence and Avanti spikes, I prefer their stabilty more than my Victory 2's (That ripped).
I've been seeing Adidas a lot more on the track now as well, finally stepping up their game for spikes. A long with those paper-weight Saucony Endorphins, I heard those are great.
