That was an extremely impressive kick - beating some very good runners.

While Cam Levins's kick was certainly impressive today, he ran 55.low the last 400m of a 27:27 race that was also mostly the last 200m. Levins has had a remarkable kick since 2011.

1) he was a nobody on the track in 2011, so no.

2) his last 200 was 26.7 in the 27:27 so no

3) It was in perfect conditions at Stanford

Three athletes enter the last 100m more or less together. One of them is technically far superior to the other two, has obviously done many, many drills etc. The product of a great deal of top level coaching. Who comes last out of the three? He does! Maybe there is something to be said for simply running in an uninhibited manner and letting rip? Can concentration on form etc. have a detrimental effect on an athletes speed at the finish?

Cam Levins sucks. He's got nothin on Lagat, bumbi, Rupp etc. Levins should go back to Canada and be a kmart greeter.

It's the Commonwealth Games and the top Kenyans didn't compete.

Not the Olympics, not the World Championships, not a Diamond League event.

Gold Medalist Moses Kipsiro has only world ranked (top ten) once in the 10,000 meters. Back in 2010.

Joseph Kipkoech, Silver medalist never has.

Kipsiro world ranked at 5,000 meters 2007-2010, but not since. Kipkoech has never ranked in the 5,000 meters.

Neither of these two guys has a top ten world time in any event in 2014.

Levins is a good runner, not a great one. Cannot hold a candle to Galen Rupp, who is much maligned on this website.

What a dumb ignorant post. Did anyone stop the top runners from coming? The best man ON THE DAY won the race. Despite none of the top runners showing up, it was a fantastic 10k, with one of the best finishes I've ever seen.

You honestly don't see why finishing third in a race where none of the top guys ran is not an occasion for excitement?

So could he out kick Rupp? He looked a lot better over the last 100 than Galen usually does.

While at SUU, he did 55s last lap off a faster pace...

However, he seems to be close to the breakthrough (to the next level) that we have all been waiting for (hope I'm right).

Doubtful. Seeing as how he has never, to my knowledge, beaten Rupp it would be hard to conclude he can outkick him. Of course, most if not all of the times they have raced, Levins has not been close enuff to be in position to outkick Rupp
