After this semester, I will be 3 semesters away from graduating from college with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. I decided that I want to teach high school, but in order to graduate with a degree in Secondary Math Education, I must complete 36 hours for a minor. I have many scattered elective hours that I can count right now, but if I were to start taking Education courses, I would be in school another year. Is it worth it? Aren't schools in such desperate need of teachers (especially math teachers) that I could get in with just a degree in plain Math? I really want to get out of school and get out into the real world. How hard will it be to find a job without the Education minor?
As a peice of somewhat irrelevant information, I DO have an extra year of eligibility in XC, indoor, and outdoor that I could use if I DID want to stay a 5th year.
Thanks.
