. . . When out of Jamaica, JADCO doesn't do shit...just like USADA doesn't do shit when athletes are abroad. As it happens to be; most pro-athletes are abroad 60-70% of the time. . .
The complaint about JADCO is that they apparently didn't do shit when the athletes were in country.
Further, the national anti-doping authority can work with their foreign counterparts to have their athletes tested out of competition while abroad.

Doping is just not going to stop. At this point, maybe legalizing it would be better. Faster people, better records. Just don't legalize it with the kids.
The funny thing will be when the records don't get better after drugs are legalized.
whooops!
Runner on this board missing the point. What I pointed out before, and will not stop, is. The majority of runners, sprinters and long distance runner alike, want a clean competition. They train hard, the run every day. It is their life. At the end of the day, they trust someone wrong, go into wrong pharmacy at Hilton in Nairobi and all of a sudden their test result is positive. This not acceptable. The athlete wanted to compete clean, was looking for supplements medicine man recommended but because of incompetent pharmacist, end up showing positive. How can we change situation. Well, it is not so clear cut. We need to work on education, which supplement are safe, which not so much. We need to educate pharmacist, he can't not give medical to runner just because he ask. In the end if Asafa or one of my athlete, they all clean (in spirit). They don't want cheat and this is how they should be judged. In this case, great decision, athlete can compete, fan can adore, television good ratings. For coaches like us, great risk to train athletes who go to Hilton pharmacy and buy "supplement" when no one can tell me what supplement is. I hope this post explains, otherwise, ask.
Nice try on the characterization...NOT.
Canova is Italian, not Cro-Magnon.
Please remember that Yohan Blake is a drug cheat.
Looks like he's not back on ped's yet. 10.30 in luzern today.
Hey moron if Yohan Blake and the other 4 Jamaicans wanted they could have easily gotten their drug case overturned by CAS. Blake and the others did not test for a banned substance, he tested for something similar to a banned substance that is still not currently on any banned list. Many of us wish he had gone ahead to CAS and clear his name so morons like those on letsrun could not sully his name but his camp decided that 3 months was short enough.
These are the facts...
1. Powell and Simpson took a supplement called Epiphany D1 that was recommended to them by their physical therapist.
2. They checked the label of the supplement and checked all the ingredients on the WADA list and none were banned.
3. The physical therapist called the manufacturer of the product and the manufacturer verified that it was completely safe, all-natural and there was nothing banned in the product. The physical therapist had athletes take the supplement before and none had ever tested positive.
4. Powell and Simpson test positive for Oxilofrine in their first test after taking the supplement. (They have no idea what Oxilofrine is btw)
5. They make contact with WADA, having no idea what caused the positive test and ask for help in raiding the room of their physical therapist to find out if there was something he was giving them intentionally (or not).
6. WADA contacts Italian police and they make the raid.
7. At the B-Sample testing, the head of the WADA lab states that Oxilofrine is a bogus stimulant and says: "If Asafa Powell is going to cheat, he certainly is NOT going to take Oxilofrine."
8. Powell and Simpson have their bottle of Epiphany D1 tested and it shows positive for Oxilofrine despite Oxilofrine (or any synonym) not being listed on the label.
9. Their manager contacts USADA and WADA and tells them that the Epiphany D1 supplement tested positive for Oxilofrine.
10. USADA orders Epiphany D1 directly from the manufacturer and has it tested by the FDA. The FDA confirm that Oxilofrine is in the product and not listed on the label.
11. USADA posts this information on their high risk list warning athletes to steer clear. Here is the link:
http://www.supplement411.org/supplement411/high-risk-list
12. JADCO delays the entire hearing process because of incompetence (They actually had a hearing to determine the date that they would have a hearing to decide the date of the hearing... Read that twice, I kid you not.)
13. JADCO eventually completes the hearing in just short of 10 months (Despite IAAF rule 38.9 which says hearings must be completed within 3 months)
14. The Panel hands down an unfounded 18 month ban, which has never happened in the history of doping cases involving contaminated supplements.
15. The head of the Jamaican panel is arrested about a week later for running a human trafficking and prostitution ring in Montego Bay. Weeks after that another of the panel members is arrested for attempting to bribe the police (Unsure if it was him or his similarly named brother). The 3rd panel member is clean but has a son that is brought up on weapons charges.
16. WADA eventually reviews the case and determines the sanction based on the facts is unjust and tries to get JADCO to agree to a reduced sentence. IAAF also signs off on the settlement but JADCO never signs off.
17. Simpson and Powell appeal to CAS for a Stay allowing them to compete with immediate effect in front of their hearing based on the facts submitted.
18. CAS grants them the right to compete prior to their appeal hearing based on the overwhelming facts of the case.
19. The appeal hearing is held in 2 days and based on all the facts the CAS makes the correct decision and reduces the ban and fines JADCO for their incompetence on the matter.
20. THESE ARE THE FACTS, Powell and Simpson are not drug cheats. If anyone has ever taken a supplement and didn't have it tested in a lab prior to taking it they could very easily be just as unlucky.

"Fanboy"???? Never been and never will be fan of any popstars/athletes/etc etc etc. Just stating facts. That's what you can..if you have other sources than what you read on the web my friend.
Your use of this term however, tells me that I'm in a discussion with a 20 year old armchair critic.
Good luck my boy.
Well that was an awesome recap of JADCO/WADA ineptitude.

Glad someone cleared that up. As I said, trusted someone (the supplement company/physical therapist), in other words, it is not their fault. They should be eligible for compensation due to the ban. I welcome back some more BUFFness in the otherwise boring world of track and field.

Ummm, they checked with WADA's list of banned substances and compared the ingredients listed on the label. If you read what happened the only way they could have known that the supplements were tainted was to have them tested by a lab. That's an awfully high bar to set if you ask me.

You're thinking about sprinters and you use the word "niggling". Hmmmmmmm.
What you guys don't understand: you got it backwards.
This is how it works: athlete tests positive for substance XYZ. Then they have their dealers investigate which supplements have exactly this substance in small doses. And then they claim they took exactly that supplement. Happens all the time.
If Powell isn't a doper who is? He has the record for the most sub 10's. He also was a machine for about 4 years and then starting breaking down. Also his physique transformed dramatically he went from a normal build to this beach body build within a couple of seasons.
Posterboys for steroid use are Mo Greene and Justin Gatlin; a lot of muscle bulk with a whole lot of water retention in the muscle. Steroids cause the body to hold fluid under the skin and within the muscle. Add to that their steroid fueled agressive behaviour and there you go.
Asafa has lean muscle, and is not bulky whatsoever. Hell, the man doesn't even have big chest musles, only a lot of definition; which training and good food do for you.
Furthermore; his progress and degress is following a natural curve. He gets stronger when advancing into his 20's and gets less fast (and injured all the time) in his late 20's/early 30's.
How more of a natural development do you want?
Do you prefer a Blake kind of 'bursting on the scene' with unnatural muscle bulk before his 20th birthday and a full on breakdown before 25?
Or would you prefer a Gatlin....who ran his fastest times under Charlie Francis' stopwatch coach, got caught, and now runs the same times under guidance of....Trevor Graham's stopwatch coach...at age 30+ and with a body that screams "STEROIDS"?
Or a post surgeory Tyson Gay who runs faster than ever, got caught, and runs 9.9 in his first race?
Please guys, get real; the dopers and non dopers are easy to detect.
