Two days ago I did a fast interval work-out on track: 3 x (8x200m) with around 33s average. Straight afterwards I was not even tired, but in these two days since I have been feeling my legs really sore. As a background I am training for a marathon, I do 100 km a week without speed workouts and usually running between 3:50 and 4:30 min/km on roads and taking challenging routes when on trails. I never experience muscle tiredness, I could train comfortably the day after a half marathon training in 1h32m.
Now the question. Do you think such fast intervals are appropriate for long distance runners? Would you run through sore muscles (especially thighs)?
