Disney World 10K this morning. Ran 37:07 and won masters division. I think the fast guys were in Chicago!
Congrats...a win is a win..!!
Congrats on the win!
Sat.: AM - 20 x 400m 87 seconds average with 55 seconds recovery, continuous. PM - 4 miles easy.
Sun.: 76 minutes of trail/fire road running. PM - beer and grilling.
Good work guys.
Two weeks after my surgery:
Saturday: 4 miles easy. Ran in the evening. Talked to runner going the other way who (hoo?) was attacked by an owl. The owl took off his hat and flew into a neaby tree. He threw sticks at it and the owl dropped the hat and flew away. I have been attacked by the same owl before. I turned around and ran on another trail.
Sunday: 6 miles. Longest distance in a month and a half. Morning run. No owl.
Nice job in the 10K!
Sat. a.m. 10 X 3 min on/2 min off. p.m. 4.5 miles easy. Had beer & pizza while watching Nebraska get killed by Texas Tech.
Sun. Hilly 20 miler. p.m. Grilling rib-eye while drinking wine & beer. Around 100 mpw.
Hilly 5K x-country race yesterday- what fun!
13 miles easy today. Firing up BBQ shortly!
Solid week with some good turnover workouts this week in the woods and on the track.

In beautiful Boston for the Tufts Health Plan 10K for Women, our National Champs (on Monday). Was invited to run the B.A.A. Half Marathon this morning so:
Sat: off
Sun: B.A.A. Half Marathon, 1:32:04 knocking almost 4 minutes off my time from Hospital Hill in June, and btw matching my longest run of any kind for '04. Absolutely beautiful morning, challenging course, excellent all around.
Great running Tony,
I wish I could run those 400's in 68, I am working towards 80 and hopefully into the the 70's in a few months - my goal. On the recovery, I would like to hit 50 seconds. Regardless, it is a great and challenging workout.
I've been reading the masters posts for a while, but was always too lazy to put in my info. Well here goes -- Did a mediocre 5K cross country race at Homdel in NJ. Had convinced myself to scrap fall marathon plans after running a 1:16 half a couple weeks ago at Liberty Waterfront in NJ -- I won't try to explain the the logic behind my thinking but am now inclined to run Philly on 11/21 with the hope of getting in a sub 2:40 if all goes well in the next 3-4 weeks.
dfed, welcome aboard. This is a great weekend read to either gain motivation from others working toward similar goals or just understand how "our" bodies are reacting to training and AGE. Anyways this is our forum.
1500master - The 20 x 400 is a great strength workout. I have always done it sporadically throughout the year to just gain confidence in my strength, not so much speed. You can run it by yourself and just work on that mental part of it too! By Winter it would be nice to progress toward more of a track session. Instead of 20, drop to 16 and then 12, then 8, then 4, going from a 5k/10k emphasis toward Mile/3k effort, then airing out some 800 efforts in March/April. October is a great time to toughen up though and start. Good luck with your progression!

what does bump mean? get rid of the thread or what? some post and then the next post is "BUMP"...however...sat am 5easy pm 8 easy sun am 2 easy watched marathon on tv then did 13.75 steady around 6:45ish...no grill no beer...my favourite thread by the way since only interlopers bring up epo and the support is how it would be in an utopia
I crashed and burned to a 2:33. Not bad, huh?
After 3 weeks on the Elliptical (nursing a calf injury) I thought I'd try to run a little on Sunday. After 1.5 miles on the grass my calf got sore again. Damn!....another week on the Elliptical- thats a depressing thought!
