He fell apart that last 50m. I was hoping he was just going to cruise it in for 2/3 but he just ran out of gas.

He let the pace go out very slow, 65 seconds, and then he went very hard on the backstretch to keep up with an also ran and then didn't have anything left on the homestretch. When you switch training groups just before the season, and the new training is very hard, it might take you awhile to adjust properly. I'm confident that he will adjust to Aden's group in time if he sticks with it, but I'm sorry to see him out so soon.
Obviously, Torrence is a competitor. But with no WC- heck, not a huge deal.
Too bad, I really thought he'd stack up well this year. I still think he could have the best season of his career, he could be a totally different runner under Aden. Just timed things wrong for this meet I guess.
LetsRun.com update: Our recap is here:
Men's 1500 Semis: David Torrence Goes Home Early - Leo, Lopez, Leer and Casey all advance
Does David still post here? He seems like a pretty chill guy. I remember that classic thread where people called him out as a troll - guess he proved them wrong.
He's in the 5k today
what ? I don't think so.
Merber, really come on?? At least Dunbar has a shot in the 5000m. And after a great NCAA outdoor track season, Trevor can't be too disappointed. Real shock of the 1500 heats was AJ Acosta! Good for him.
i hate being devastated

Merber was about 57 inches behind Acosta.

Must have been a tactical error or something...
I mean, to come back and get 5th in the 5k is quite good, so he's in shape
If David had been in Leo's heat, he would be in the final, 'cause Leo don't play.
Just saw Super Dave's interview after the 5k dude wants to run sub 1:44 and sub 3:31 dream Big Super. Dave and a God Bless
