I've got a great place to do tempos/intervals/reps where I live, but it's windy all the time. In fact, I seem to live in a generally very windy location. Out of 10 workouts, I'll be lucky to get over 2 that are not in to significant wind (reducing pace by 15+ seconds a mile)
I've stalled a bit in the last year in improving my times, so this is really starting to annoy me - every time I have a great session, I think "right, do that a few more times with same effort then increase paces". But inevitably, the next few sessions are disrupted by wind and hitting the same paces at the same effort level is not really possible. It's hard to know when you are really improving.
I've never ran on a treadmill but am now considered purchasing one for the purpose of doing controlled quality workouts. My questions are:
Anyone do this?
Assuming I should still keep some sessions on road, I understand treadmill running is slightly easier?
Daniels suggests setting a 2% incline to simulate road running...again, anyone experience with this?
What paces do these things generally go to?
Can you set them by pace, or is it all km/ph? I'd want one that went fast as 4:30 ( rather ambitious for my current level, but future proofing... )
Can they be programmed to do interval workouts?
