Had a great time in San Diego on Thursday with all my fellow masters at the Jim Ryan Festival of miles. Pace was supposed to be hot, with a 2:05 first half, but our pacer brought us through in 2:17. I didn't mind at all, as my legs were tired from traveling all day. The race did open up after that, and Tim Gore pulled away over the final 300. Jon Gardiner went by me with 200 to go, and I had no response. Didn't lose form, but my legs just wouldn't turn over. Jim Sorenson came from 40 meters back and got me about 30 meters out. I was pleased with my effort, but not the time. 4:32.44. While its a solid time, I really felt I was in around 4:25 shape at the worst, but it was simply just a bad race, and I didn't get too worked up about it. I just enjoyed racing all my peers, so I can't look down on it. And I would like to thank Cush for not running me down either. Hopefully PTF is a little different, although you have to race to find out right.
