Uhh maybe cause he doesn't want to race a steeple every time he runs and you don't run your prime event every time you race...

Galen Rupp's best event is the 10k, but he runs a bunch of 1500's, 3k's, and 5k's...

A lot of people who specialize in the 5k run a lot of 1500's, and maybe 10's

A lot of people who specialize in the 1500m run a lot of 800's, 3k's, 5k's

A lot of people who specialize in the 10k run a lot of 1500's, 3k's, 5k's

A lot of people who specialize in the Steeplechase run a lot of 1500's, 3k's and, 5's

Plus there's not very many big time steeple opportunities, and some DL Curcuit races don't have them

Sub-8:05 for sure. I'll go with 8:01 after that 3:53 mile, depending on the conditions.

Most pro steeplers only do about 3 in a season, it is an injury producing event and I don't think you want to do too many of them.
