Is this a good plan for a soon to be HS junior training for 16:30 5k come autumn?
I'm soon to be a junior as well. Thanks for bringing my attention to this workout plan, it looks very promising. I just might try this out this summer if my coach lets me, we will have team practices over the summer so I may not get to do what I want.

Seems like an awful lot of 4 mi runs. I'm not sure they could build adequate speed/endurance for a 5k.

When you say 'my coach' is that the school's XC coach? Or the track coach? Or not part of the school? 'Cause if you're paying somebody, you don't need to since guys like Hodge (I'm old enough to remember him and he could run) and a lot of others can easily get info out these days with the internet. I would encourage you to at least consider following a program that looks good instead of the summer practices you referred to.

Yeah he is the High School Track and XC Coach. I think I will try out a good base mileage program for this summer as well as weight training and core. But do you think this is a good program? OP wants to know as well.
