A serious question .. you've suggested you think Ryun, in his peak form, on modern tracks with optimal conditions, was worth 3:24. How much faster than that do you think he was potentially worth had he also been trained with modern techniques, methods, technologies, etc? Surely what we know now about training, about diet and health, about psychology of running, etc, are all worth at least a couple of seconds. Add in a the benefits of running, regularly against faster athletes in a much more competitive world is worth another one or 2. Or do you suggest all of that would be worth zero benefit to Jim Ryun?
