Big-time kicker Andrews made his move with 150 to go and seemed to be on his way to victory, but wait, Greer is outkicking the kicker.
Greer was moving even faster than Robby and pretty much destroyed him.
Did Greer run that way at Oregon? Fun race.

theres a difference between being a cocky SOB and knowing you can beat somebody with 100m to go in a race
it was a good performance by greer. he went through 400m DFL in 52.8, came back in 53.0.
i'm not ventolin, but to me that's worth about 1:44.75-1:45.25 (from 1:45.86)(PR 1:45.04)
Andrews is not in the legend that he was a couple of years ago. Good win for Greer but I wouldn't describe it as "craziness."
I actually liked what Andrews did, as much, he closed well, he tried hard and it was his second in same range off 51 high or slower in less than a week
This was Greer's first, fully fresh and did not ship cross country for his second in a week, he should be good, no indoors at all right?

He ran a different than usual strategy for him, run from the back, though he used it in the semi's last year at NCAA's.
He was injured last winter and got a late start, so he is just rounding into shape now, so, smart strategy to go out in the back and work his way up...and to still get a sub 1:46, NICE.
Every move he made in that race was perfect, he made several small moves, each crazy perfect in their execution and they took nothing out of him as he stomped around Andrews and pounded out the victory.
Happy for him.
Greer reminds me of Centro in his race savvy.

An old friend of mine used to say , better to have a career and early than to never have had one, and Andrews had one early.
Greer? a very good runner has ever has an epic win.Actually neither has Wheating as fast as he has run.
These were big days against a much younger guy.and I am a huge Andrews critic.

Andrews justly earned his cred at the Indoors final, and at Penn. We were all dazzled by the "who, me?" schtick of the kick-from-the-back Andrews in 2011, but maybe the test of time will bring new eyes to the NCAA 2011 outdoor final which is the only outdoor race they ran head to head. Look at the replay and, despite the mythology, you'll see Greer hanging with Andrews kick just fine until Andrews muscles him into Loxsom, scraping Greer off to push past for the win. The point is simply that Greer was equal to the kick. You can decide for yourself by looking at the angle of Andrews hips and feet in the stills whether there was sufficient interference or not, but there's no changing the outcome. There's simply the realization that Greer was far more competitive against Andrews than generally recognized.
