The politically correct go after the Bolder Boulder

As usual, you people are babbling idiots.

This has nothing to do with liberals in general or the citizenry of Boulder. It was started by one Mardi Moore, apparently a member of Out Boulder, who then presumably alerted local media. Anyone can start a petition on change.org -- I could start one right now calling for hackers to take out this miserable message board and erase all traces of it, and I bet it would get more signatures than the one under discussion.

If you walking cumshots had actually read either the Denver Post article or the petition itself, you would know that even though Out Boulder represents LGBTQ interests, its complaint in this case had nothing to do with homosexuality:

"The word [sissy] is used to (demean) traits that are problematically and stereotypically associated with women ... Traits that all genders have but are not valued because they are associated with women ... That word continues the incorrect thinking that having emotions or expressing something in a stereotypically female way is somehow wrong in society."

The bolded words should serve as a clue.

What's more, the race organizers have no plans to change the slogan. This came up a few years ago and it's a dead issue. So in a nutshell you're all bitching about one woman representing a traditionally discriminated-against body of people using their right to free speech. Classy.

How about this? Imagine that some freewheeling billionaire for some reason hated runners and running and launched a "Running is for Unathletic Thimble-Dicks" campaign, and that he offered free T-shirts and $25 to anyone who would show evidence of wearing one in public. Everyone here would complain about it...well, maybe not. I'd actually get one myself and wear it proudly because it's usually true, at least compared to sprinters such as myself (black, background in many sports, hung like a stallion).

So jeez. Lighten up, y'all.

Us white, privileged, able-bodied, straight men had it great in the ol' days. I can't fathom a world where I'm so inconvenienced by thinking about what words I can or can't say because it might perpetuate the further marginalization of disenfranchised groups - at least I'll have a message board or two where I can anonymously post my TRUE feelings if that ever happens!

The competitors running in Bolder Boulder were aware of the "Sea level is for sissies" slogan when they signed up to run. They are exercising their freedom of expression by identifying with others who like the slogan, as well as exercising their freedom of assembly by joining together to compete in the same race.

Similarly, people who join together to take part in a gay pride walk are exercising the same two things: freedom of expression and freedom of assembly.

Either group may choose to adopt the perspective that their own group IS NOT attempting to ethnically cleanse a geographic area by assembling and expressing an identity that empowers themselves, while simultaneously choosing to adopt the perspective that the other group IS attempting to ethnically cleanse a geographic area.

If it is natural to be born either straight or gay, and it is natural to want to live life in liberty to pursue happiness, and our geographic area's Constitution guarantees those rights, the BOTH groups are free to peacefully assemble and express themselves to assure have what they have given.

To either to deny the other is suppressing the other via oppresive ethnic cleansing. It is a form of VIOLENCE.

Talk about totally twisting something! It was a poke at EDs and this discussion. Nothing. READ THIS Nothing to do with "good" old days.

So now saying old days is incorrect too. No matter what the context? You totally read into something that wasn't there. Read this: there was nothing implied or stated that the old days were better. In fact if someone has an ED the little blue pill would be a lot easier than a wimpus.

I went to the Bolder Boulder store a few days ago to register and I was disappointed to see that the employee helping me

was wearing a "Sea Level Is For Slackers" shirt.

I thought Cliff Bosley was going to stand up to the politically correct and not change the slogan.

A sad day in Boulder :-(
