I was once a professional kickboxer ( no i wasn't with Jason in Thailand) and before my debut professional fight my assistant coach came in to the room and said for me annd the other three kickboxers who fought out of my club to drop our drawers, that it was time for our vitamin b-12 shots. i hate shots sos i said I'm in great shape, I have never needed it before in practice or a ametuer fight, why do I need it now? Teh coach said I needed it because it helped sustain energy, after a breif diatribe I submitted.
When I got into the ring the referee was telling my opponent and I the rules of the fight as we had the traditional face off with eachother, as The ref gave the rules my opponent kept walking closer to me, each step he took toward me I felt insane anger rising up in me, finally he put his nose on the side of my cheek! I went off, back handing him in the face knocking him back, I turned to the freinzied crowd and screamed "I'm going to tear his fuc---
head off" I saw my coaches jumping the ropes and running toward me holloring no! no! That was the last thing I remember until three rounds later I came back to conscious reality because my coaches couldn't get me to take a seat in my corner they had splashed a bucket of ice water in my face that brought me out of my rage. I ended up winning the fight two rounds later. I found out that from the sound of the first round bell i had sprinted to the other guys corner before he even made two steps from his corner and had pounded on the guy as he spent his time in defense trying to protect himself from my onslought of fury.
The guy had won his four previos pro fights all by knock out, he was a good sport in the end picking me up and parading me around the ring (male bonding?).
At any rate back to my point, for months after the fight I couldn't understand why I had gone off in a black rage of fury, I had always been under control in all my previous fights. I was expressing this to one of my team mates one ady and he said do you really want to know why you went off? I said yes! he told me taht the shot in the room had not been vitamin b-12 but instead was Anabolic Fireball Steriod the strongest steriod avaible at that time 1987 and that it brought out the basest male aspects of anger, rage, and fear! So ther gentlemen is my answer the stuff can kick you in a few minutes, I'm sure it effects every one differently, perhaps if I had known what I had been injected with I could have been prepared mentally and not given in to the rage of my machine, I don't know, never tried it again. but I do know the effect was immediate and that it was widely used in kickboxing durung that time.
