Very different to me. The store wouldn't let me buy them but I did a short test run. Excellent shoe.

Can't be ordered till the 30th. Looks pretty good, feels pretty good.

It is staying at its $100 price.
Which kinda sucks because it used to be an $80 or $85 shoe less than 10 years ago.

Ever heard of inflation?
I've got a pair on my feet as I type. To me, the shoe does seem to be very different than the prior version, which I really liked. They are much more comfortable than the previous as well. I've yet to do any serious running in them yet though.
They remind me of the old Skylon.

What was so different about it?

The upper is very soft and pliable. No plastic midfoot cradle. More volume in the toebox. The midsole is a lower profile and the lowered offset is noticeable. Very soft like before but seems to transition better. Its a faster feel to me.
According to Running Warehouse the new Pegasus 31 will have a 31mm heel and a 18mm forefoot.....the Pegasus 30 has a 32mm heel and a 19mm forefoot....the heel to toe drop will remain the same at 13mm.

Stack height measurements dont reveal true offset. The midsole has a lip outside. The offset is noticeably lower when you put it on.

Interesting that the Nike Pegasus 31 comes out on the anniversary of Pre's death. I hear it's a tad firmer and more responsive. That is music to my ears.
I hope its not more flixible! It is already too flexible for my liking.

Shoe was $85 like 5 yrs ago. The local running store price is $105. Im wonder where the extra 20 is going.
$105? They are charging you an extra $5! Unless you are including tax.
The extra $15 comes from improved material: upper, mid-sole and air units.
It also comes from increased wage and inflation.
Then your local store is ripping you off. the MSRP is $100.
I started buying the Pegasus in 2001 when it was $80. Thirteen years later it's only gone up $20 in price. That's not bad. Consider the Asics GT-2XXX series has gone from $85 to $120 during that time. Sure I'd prefer the shoe to always stay the same price, but inflation is a fact of life.
Want to save money? Just buy last year's model online. I can't wait for the Pegasus 31 to come out, because the Pegasus 30 will be even cheaper.
I work at a running store. Between running in it, talking to our Nike reps, and others feedback, all in all the shoe is a little bit firmer and more responsive than previous. The peg 30 Nike felt was too soft, so they changed it a lot. Now in the ideal Nike shoe closet they structure it as the Vomero as the soft high mileage trainer, Peg as the lighter, harder, and faster everyday shoe, and then something like the Elite/Free/Streak as a racer or workout shoe. From a marketing standpoint, that's what they want to accomplish.
It does in fact fit a bit different thanks to the upper and the heel construction. It is definitely more responsive. Not a bad or good thing, just personal preference. Everytime they change something like the peg there are those that will love it or hate it. I quite like the new one vs the 30 or 29.
Ive put 30 plus miles on these since last Friday.
Pros: Very comfortable upper
Lower profile midsole
Responsive
Cons: A big one for me. I am an underpronator and up to the 5 mile mark the 31 feels good. But I notice that I'm feeling stress on my inner knees and ankles and my hips feel "splayed out" for lack of a better term. The shoe seems engineered to roll laterally. The wear on the outsole confirms this. It doesn't cause pain but it feels unnatural to me. I had the same issue with the Tarther if anyone remembers that shoe.
I'm sure the 31 will work well for a lot of runners, but I prefer the 890 or Launch for distance.
try the elite if you're looking for a shoe for under pronators made by Nike. It's pretty similar to the 890 or Launch it terms of cushioning and weight, but has a different fit and feel.
I actually recently went on a shoe hunt after having problems with the direction my old shoe took. I've been wearing the 30s for about a month as I'm recovering from injury, and I like em so far. I'll probably grab a few pairs on the cheap now that the 31 is out.
