I've been training for a marathon for the last 24 weeks following Pfitzingers 24/55 plan. It starts fairly low at about 30 a week before gradually increasing to a peak of 55.
My marathon is this weekend and following that I have 9 weeks off (4 where I'm going to run super easy before building it back up a little) and then I'm back into another 18 week marathon cycle.
I started running about 20 months ago and until this current cycle probably averaged about 25-30 a week with a few higher, maxing out at about 50.
My question is, for the next cycle should I follow the 18/70 schedule or stick with the 18/55. Will I be better off consolidating at the current mileage level for a while before pushing on to the next level? Obviously I can just try the 18/70 plan (which starts at 53, which I could currently manage) and cut it back if I start to struggle, but was wondering if anyone more experienced had some advice around this.
Would I be increasing too quickly? Or does this speed of progression sound about right?
