I am incredibly in debt and feel I haven't learned a thing in the last 4 years.

maybe you should get off the internet and go and study some more, get your full money's worth. just because you paid for the books, and showed up to class once or twice, doesnt mean you will learn anything unless you actually read the books and show up to most of the classes.
Because of college, my writing skills are really, really, really good. I also am way better at paying attention to details and rarely if if ever make stupid mistakes.

ha!
to the orginial poster: you should have taken a more general major; i'm guessing you took something like art history or accounting and can't apply it to most things.
I wonder just exactly what you were expecting to learn from college. I took several art history classes, and felt like I learned a lot that's applicable to life. Even classes without direct life applications taught me to view things differently than I had before. At my school, communications majors are usually considered dumbasses, but that's a pretty general major. (And of course there's the ever infamous hotel management.) Perhaps you are just disillusioned that your college education didn't help you find a better job or make you feel smarter than the people around you?
Already in my two years at Ohio State I have studied the history and psychology of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, am contemplating a thesis on energy engineering and am gaining increasing proficieny in Uzbek. Yes, UZBEK!
Men O'zbek, Espan, Rus, va Ingliz gapiraman.
All this for a guy from a redneck river town on the Ohio River.

You are suggesting a kind of jack of all trades major where you have no expertise in anything.
Well, at least you won't be in direct competition with me.
I learned that Ben Franklin had 56 illegitimate children and that at least in some cases, the police will drag a teacher physically from the front of class to arrest her if she has enough overdue library fines. I learned how to penny people into their dorms rooms and to check for maggots underneath the breading of a breaded veal cutlet.
I also learned that given a choice between performing well and sucking up to whoever's in charge, sucking up is generally rewarded better. That's not to say that I learned to suck up, just the value of doing so.
I learned not to drink 151 Rum for breakfast.
I learned that even if it really is the 1st time you sleep with a girl and your parents show up unexpected, they will not believe it was your 1st time.
even if it was...
...and I shouldn'thave taken all that sex for granted. I'd have enjoyed it more.

If only Dan Rather could say the same.
No
I learned alot but can't remember what the hell it was!
I learned to stock boxes real good. I can get a job at any grocery store in the country. So far I've completed 265 semester hours and counting.

I agree with the art history major. However, you're dead wrong about accounting. While the different areas in accounting (taxation, auditing, etc) can get complicated, it is a generally simple concept: to provide information for either internal or external users.
And let's not forget the employment opportunities. I had to pick between job interviews during my senior year because I could attend all of them. Places of employment are everywhere, both in the public and private sector.
Disagree. I got my art history major and ultimately wound up as a money manager with a Wall Street firm. I can now shoot the shit with wealthy clients about what some fruitcake was thinking when he threw some paint on a wall 450 years ago. Every little bit helps.
Hey here's a thought - GO TO CLASS!
Oh, of course, you're one of those students who NEVER misses a class. Here's a thought - PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. Of course you do.
Here's a thought - TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN LEARNING!!! Oh, so you're one of those students who expects to learn through osmosis - if I show up, knowlege will magically jump from the professor's brain to mine.
Learning can only be done through active participation in the process. Want to know whose fault it is that you learned nothing? Look in the mirror.
