The Inside Story of the Bumbalough DQ:
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/02/inside-story-andrew-bumbalough-dq-case-mistaken-identity-catastrophe/
The article calls for a change of the DQ rules as they are horribly written. They currently allow for a Hill DQ (after all Bumby was DQd in a case of mistaken identity) even though the contact happened 1k out from the finish.
Has anyone ever seen anyone DQd for a similar offense so far out from the finish?
Imagine for a moment that Hill had beaten Rupp and then been DQd for bumping him 1k from the finish

No i have not.

Rupp ran 4:01 for the mile, 8:03 for 3k, and 13:37 all in HS. Solinsky was a Foot Locker champion and ran very fast for 3200m in HS. Rupp wins silver and breaks the AR, therefore he must be on drugs despite times indicating he ranks as one of the best HS runners of all-time.
Wake up. Rupp's suddent improvement senior year when he needed a contract. Rupp's going from can't kick/break 4:00 in the mile to 3:50 - that's what raises the red flag.
Well that and the fact we already know they'll do every legal advantageous thing allowed - tents, masks, thyroid, TUEs.
Well that and Sal's past with AW and Slaney.
And Magness's silence after leaving. Same thing with Goucher, Yoder.
As I wrote in another thread. If rupp had lost to hill and then hill had been DQd, amazon.com wouldn't have enough server space to keep letsrun afloat. -
Idiotic post.

If you're going to criticize, learn your history. Rupp rarely raced the 15/mile in college. Sal started having him work on it indoors post-college when it became clear Rupp was going to get outkicked in every race of his pro career. His progression was steady and anything but questionable. 4:00 just under, getting a little faster every year. He ran 4:01 in HS. It took several seasons of work to get to 3:50.
From IAAF site:
1500m progression, Galen Rupp
2013 3:36.69 London (OP) 27 JUL
2012 3:34.75 Los Angeles (OC), CA 18 MAY
2009 3:39.14 Eugene, OR 30 MAY
2005 3:44.39 Cuxhaven 09 JUL
2003 3:53.57 Amherst 06 JUL
Indoor Mile progression, Galen Rupp
PERFORMANCE PLACE DATE
2013 3:50.92 Boston (BU), MA 26 JAN
2012 3:57.10 Boston (Roxbury), MA 04 FEB
2008 4:02.17 New York (MSG), NY 01 FEB
5 seconds in the 1500 from 2005-2009
5 seconds in the 1500 from 2009 - 2012.
That's 10 seconds over 8 YEARS.
Well that and the fact we already know they'll do every legal advantageous thing allowed - tents, masks, thyroid, TUEs.
Yes, he's willing to do every LEGAL thing. This is hardly evidence of PEDs.
Well that and Sal's past with AW and Slaney.
AW as in Alan Webb? What about him? Slaney is a red herring. She was crazy enough to dope on her own. It doesn't look good for AlSal, but her personality and the fact that you have to dig back 20 years to find this isn't exactly a strong argument that Sal is dirty too.
And Magness's silence after leaving. Same thing with Goucher, Yoder.
Silence? Don't you think silence is evidence that NOTHING dirty is going on? You really think that Magness would keep his mouth shut? He has nothing to lose. The resounding silence of Sal's ex-athletes is what makes me believe Rupp is clean. -
imagine for a moment if letsrun.com did not bash other athletes all day long.

Where is the bump in traffic and ad sales in that boring approach though? -
It doesn't stop. Sleazy Sal must be sick. He's just like Lance now.

ever heard of Jordan cheater? wrote:

Except... he's not. -
can i put in an appeal?
due to the contact made from Galen onto Ryan Hill it caused Hill to come 3rd. and miss making the indoor team.
DQ GALEN!!!! -
What's funny is that you guys fancy yourselves journalist yet have no idea what the word objectivity means. Seriously, it's time to let this thing drop--OR, go after the USATF instead of focusing your ire on NOP/Rupp/Salazar. Regardless of NOP, it is the USATF which botched this, and people are ignoring that which is the real problem and attacking NOP instead.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS
If Sal really did get in the face of other athletes, he owes them an apology. He doesn't owe Letsrun or anyone else an official statement or any other BS.
USATF is the bad guy here. -

No, Rupp and Hasay are the bad guys. They are the primary cheaters who have chosen Salazar to represent them. Never forget that. They'll profit from whatever fixes Sleazy Sal makes for them and they should likewise be held responsible for the cheating Salazar does on their behalf.
Rupp and Hasay - two cheaters. -

Rupp and Hasay - two cheaters.
Please outline in detail the cheating in which Salazar has engaged. -

AW as in Athletics West, the training group with several former members who have admitted widespread doping was going on.

He has everything to lose. Salazar and his lawyers could sue the pants off him just like Armstrong's lawyers did to everyone who spoke out against him. -
Not once have I seen a DQ for something like that, and that goes back to high school, four years of college track, decades as a fan, being an official at high schoool state and regional meets for about four years, and a half dozen years as a high school assistant.
That said, the subsequent discussion here is interesting. Are we piling on? Are the letsrun scribes, owners, dictators and all raking up muck just to keep us obsessed with this? Are WE being manipulated so they can have more ad revenue?
In otherwords, is their "investigation" a muckraking conflict of interest? -
What would have been the reaction if Salazar protested and got Solinsky's AR DQd at Stanford in 2010 to give the record to Rupp (who also went under the old AR)
Check the 23:50 mark.

Rup stepped on Hill, like GG stepped on Hasay.
Couldn't Rupp have been DQed for that? -
"Imagine for a moment that Hill had beaten Rupp and then been DQd for bumping him 1k from the finish"
Don't need to imagine. For some of us, we don't need to live in an imaginary world to wish our desires into reality. Rupp beat hill fair and square. -

Indeed. -
So we've gone from the factual, to the alleged to now the imaginable? What's next, LetsRun? Should we start posting about what would happen in a parallel universe to keep this story alive for you? Just let us know!!
