Ok I thought this was pretty ridiculous but maybe it's just because I train so hard for similar results. Has anyone else witnessed something like this?
Anyway our school (university) is pretty small so all the athletes tend to hang out/party together etc.
This one guy the distance runners call "Eric the douche" is always bragging about how he rips off these crazy forest runs and hill sprints and always passes the distance group when he is on his short runs and we are on our long runs around campus.
He has been getting increasingly mouthier and about a week ago at a party claimed our milers were 'slow' and with any sort of training he would kick our ass (this was SORT of tongue in cheek).
Today he raced one of our faster guys over a real mile and beat him 4:13 to 4:14 in a time trial. I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. The guy clearly works out a ton but doesn't actually play any varsity sports and is in the gym as much as I see him out running doing bench press and stuff.
long story short I thought this was unreal. It was his first mile on a track ever for a "weekend warrior" and he beat our third best guy. wtf? has this happened to anyone else???
