I am currently a junior in high school. To make a long story short, I am more or less forced to coach myself or to educate my track coach (more of a jumper/sprinter coach)about the type of training that I should be doing. I am training for a 800, coming from a distance background. Last year I ran a 2:00.1 and split a 53.9 in a 4x4, though I averaged a 54 high. I have worked up to 60 miles per week, incorporating a 12 log run and a 4 mile tempo at around 5:45 pace. I have a general idea of training, but need help fine tuning it. From what I have gathered a lot of aerobic work is required, but so is speed. If my state track meet is in the end of May, what type of workouts should I start doing? Should I follow the Jack Daniels program? Any info on Rubio or Vigil? Dellinger? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
