Dress warmly and run loops near home. I ran for years in Canada and Buffalo and much prefer that to my current sunbelt running. First mile is chilly, then one feels great. Winter running, in the dark morning hours after a snowfall, is utopia; no one is out and one feels self-sufficient and hardy. It changes one, for the better.
