The GarbageDisposal- I don't think ill do gateriver. Thinking gaspy. They're now offering way more in prize money. I'm thinking I'll have a shot at their local purse for both the 15k and Half so I'm doing both. Lets hope I can through it lol.

NP- Ah Ok i wasn't sure if your main goal was a half or a full. That's an awful lot of miles, you're going to be strong!
Renewed Marathoner - about 4:27, though this might've been an indoor PR. I'm shooting for late april/early May, which means it'll actually be a 1500 most likely.
TheGarbageDisposal - think I might amend that to sub 15:30 at BAA 5k unless the 3k in a few weeks goes well. My focus is definitely the mile, though - I'm 25 and figure this is probably the best year to hit a mile PR before going up to longer stuff.
GarbageDisposal: Excellent memory! The 3k was at the end of May, and really hot, so I basically time-trialed it to make sure I qualified for Club Nationals. Then my training fell apart a couple of weeks later and I wasn't running well at Nationals and had been nursing the injury for a while so I dropped out. Even so, I felt like I could have run in the low 15s (and maybe broken 15) if a track meet was magically conjured in early June with ideal 5k conditions.
If I remember correctly, you had been having some IT band problems over the spring and early summer, right? If so, great job on getting over the injury and pushing yourself to new levels of fitness afterwards!
Runnersfix- That makes sense do go there, and heck they should have a loaded half field this year with the new American only prize money so you might even PR there. (actually just looked at the website again, guess 15K is first).
Have you ever done the challenge there (all races)? Seems like a more fun version of the Disney dopey (no marathon).
Ghola- That sounds like a smart plan. I tried to do a 8-10 weeks mile/5K phase 2 years ago right before I turned 30 and my body would just not have it with the speed work needed. Best to develop your mid-distance speed while you're still relatively young.
StevenJackson- Nice memory yourself as well. It's crazy to look back now and see I was running high-17 5Ks less than 6 months ago. I guess you'll be sharing those feelings in a few months when you're popping off 3K/5K PRs as well.
Now that I'm not drugged up!
cmm268: Nice week, especially with travel
np1112: Very nice week, seems like you're right on track
TheGarbageDisposal: Wow, AWESOME job! Though you might want to give some shorter races a try with all those intermediate PRs.
pewow: PF? I used to walk barefoot at work, stopped that when I got PF. It helped a lot. Hope you heal up quickly. "Flow" is my coach's way of saying long tempo run starting at a pretty moderate pace (usually somewhere between my HMP and MP depending on the distance and time of year), and picking it up for anywhere from a quarter mile to 2 miles at the end. So I guess medium-hard progression sounds about right.
reed: Where the hell are you that it's 80F?
Renewed Marathoner: Everything I've read about breathing and running suggests that breathing as slowly as I do means I really can't get that much oxygen, and faster, more shallow breaths are actually more efficient for running fast. I think it makes sense because when I get tired I don't breathe more quickly, but instead my muscles start to burn. So I think one of my limitations might actually just be that I'm breathing too slowly, and I'm going to experiment for a while and see what happens.
Possible TMI alert: The colonoscopy was pretty crappy (get it). Well the actual procedure was fine, sedatives are great, and if I were an anesthesiologist I would probably be abusing them. I don't remember anything about the procedure and I slept like a baby after. The prep sucked but not quite as terribly as everyone said it would. Chugging four liters of salty laxatives I actually turned back to my running a lot, like "if I can endure this I can endure anything" and "this will make you faster if you figure out what's wrong and treat it." Thank you, running. Equally useful were my alcohol chugging skills from college.
They removed a polyp (what the hell I'm a 23 year old athletic woman with the health of a 50 year old obese man) and I'm waiting on the biopsies to see if there's anything there but the rest of it looked normal.
interesting. that's almost to my issue. Its usually my legs that hold me back, by far not my breathing. I'll try out increasing my respiratory rate and key you know how it goes
TheGarbageDisposal- I have done this double before just not all of them. The 15k is Saturday and has a local prize purse and the Half is Sunday which has both a local and American prize purse. I just want to be top local in both, not worried about times at all. If somehow I get dragged into the top 5 American then that's just more $ lol. But that's going to be very hard to do.
