I'm not going to argue about abortion (because NO ONE will ever change ANYONE'S mind), but I will say that for an elected official to make such a statement is in very poor taste. Basically, anyone who disagrees with me can get out.

Sperm (and eggs) are the separate, genetically unique property of two distinct peoples' bodies. A sperm fused with an egg that has recombined DNA is a unique piece of human DNA, separate from either of those two contributing humans. At that point, it ceases to "belong" to either of them, and is its own entity.
