definitely not questioning his bad*ss-ness, just curious as to what he was working with when he got back into running. i found a few low 9s steeplechase races at NAIA nattys & low 25 8K XC for Scott. this is NOT meant to be disrespectful/a shot at him, but IMO if guys with that level of talent actually continued to train and had "normal" progressions after college, US marathon depth WOULD be a lot better & we'd have a hell of a lot more sub2:20 guys than we do now. but 95% of those guys give it up now (as opposed to 20-30 years ago). Scott hasn't and is still improving, props to him!

not asking to be a d*ck, but has he really improved a crazy amount? exactly how good was he in college? did he really make dramatic improvements, or is his progression expected for someone of his college level that took time off & then had to spend a few years getting back on the horse?
either way, he's got a new fan here. good luck Sunday Scott!
To put it simply, if his progression was normal the US would have much more depth in the marathon. But we don't. Therefore, Scott is a bad*ss. (not sure if I'm allowed to use cuss words on here)
