The thing is "getting by on the bare minimum" will usually result in MORE GETTING DONE than if you do the maximum! Try it with any exercise. Swimming, biking, basketball, sex, cleaning, shopping or any activity. Just say "I will only do the BARE MINIMUM". I find that if I only do the "bare minimum" I do FAR MORE than if I do the maximum! It is like the Twilight Zone!
