Hello there,
with the idea in mind to run another (last in late 2010) marathon next spring, trying to get sub3 hours, I am stuck as I do not know which program to choose between 3 books I have read and enjoyed: Daniels (marathon plan A), Advanced Marathoning (from 55 to 70), and Hudsons Running Faster (Marathon Level 2).
I am a little confused as in Daniels the first weeks (2nd period) have a weekly interval session while Pfitzinger approach seems different as he puts some lighter interval later in Race Preparation stage (later, 3d mesocycle). Besides, Daniels program seem more flexible as there are specified just two quality workout and then you put the reamaining miles when you can/want (I am caught between family and work and this would be a plus). Pfitzinger's program seem a little more structured and the more demanding one.
Hudsons adaptive program (I know you like his approach) is a nice alternative to them, with some early emphasis on progression runs and later again some intervals.
As far as specific endurance workouts, I cannot see big differences, apart the use by Pftizinger of a mid-week quite long training which add to the specific weekend endurance workout.
What would you suggest and what is your opinion?
Anyone here tried all these 3 programs?
bye
Paolo
