And we as a people and a government will go out and put the cost of the smoke and mirrors on our credit card.
Nobody will survive The Great Water Wars of the 2040s anyway.

Except me
I'm 49 and started back in the late 80's with what was called Amway. Now the name has changed. I have built up a small SMS empire that has me pretty much set for life. I travel quite a bit and involve myself in many different sports events, mostly running ones though. I have zero debt, and manage my own finances. (accounting degree). I really quite worrying after I topped over 100 million to my worth. Now its just watching my worth grow through interest and other ventures I have.
I am fortunate and I am giving. Most of all I am Thankful.
Estimates from when I was 25:
Savings $2,000
Retirement $2,000
Student Loans ($35,000)
Negative net worth of $31,000

Can you give me some? Not asking for much. Just like 100k

You need to eat a snickers...
0/10
Amway the pyramid scheme? I'm sure you made a ton off of that.
Like many I had basically nothing at age 25. I think that's fine as long as you establish a career over the next 10 years.
At 35 I'm saving $30,000 - $40,000 per year. On pace to retire by 55 if all goes well.
-$25,000
Grad school
^ i hope grad school for something useful... not just arts and crafts
24y/o, ~$155k
I'm 26, and have about $115k saved (70k in investments; 40k in retirement; 5k in savings). I'm currently making 180k per year, and have been working for 2.5 years. I feel like I should have a bit more saved up, but have spent a bit lavishly on trips and such. Hoping to have 300k saved up by the time I start a family and take a likely significant pay cut to get a bump in lifestyle.
damn you guys make me feel bad. I messed around for a few years after high school but im 27 now and only just about to finish uni in may. Its pretty brutal cause almost everyone I know is "ahead" of me in life. I have no job, no money saved, 3k credit card debt, and 4k student loansl. Any of you guys waste your 20's like me and still make it out ok? I don't expect to be rich or anything but I would like to one day be able to consider myself successful and make more than just enough to get by
At 25 no college education or college debt. I was investing all my money in a income property. So no savings as such just equity on real property. I guess I had maybe 6 months living expenses in the bank. I also had started a part time business (10 hours per week) that afforded my some tax advantages in write offs for dining and ended up pretty much covering a sizable chunk of my leisure time entertainment budget
. Secure in a craftsman's job making upper middle class level money and on a strong career path with 5 years fasttracked experience in my business (and military service completed) At 25 I was being actively recruited in my industry and adding to my skill set. My industry was rapidly expanding, evolving and new opportunities were seemingly on every corner.
But 1970 was different times. I'd guess only 20% of the population had a college degree. The Baby Boomers were starting to spend . . .
Let me add what I did and how I did it could never happen today.
I was minus $20k at 25(student loans).
I made my first million at 38
I have close to $600k right now, but at 25, I had probably $1000 to my name.
How many women had you taken to the coat closet by 25. I was over 100.
At 25 I was in debt $50K from shrink and medical bills. I had no job. I had no HS diploma. I had a Federal felony record. 4 years earlier at 21, I had been beaten by the USMC, then jailed for 4 years on trumped up charges, and forced out by the USMC on an Dishonorable Discharge with no VA Medical benefits. My parents had to pay out of pocket for my mental care and fix my twisted spine, ankle, and neck. I had a brain surgery to relieve pressure and Out Pateint recovery that cost $60K itself. Man I was one piece of redneck trailer park white trash.

You're all good man! You've got to realize that most people who want to respond this thread are the one's with interesting or strong positions at 25. $3k on CC and $4k in student loans is nothing. That's like bottom percentile over here in the US.
You've still got time; aim to have your debt gone and building retirement savings/investments by the time you're 30.
When I was 26 I was scraping by, spending a lot, with a $150k in student loans between my wife and I. Now we're both earning ok, setting aside $500/mo towards 401k, but still carrying $120k in student loans and $120k mortgage.
I will not rest until I break $400,000.
