Does weed help for seasonal allergies?
Heroin users say the same thing, only that all the positives you mention above are 10 times better. You need to walk through the gateway and reach your full potential. Drugs are good, and you're the kid whose good. Nothing but good could come of it.
I've never understood smoking Marijuana.
I guess I understand when people say it affects every one's minds differently, because I really dont enjoy it. I like to drink because I feel like it makes me happier-- weed just makes me tired and sleepy.
There's one thing that always puzzles me about people who smoke weed. They always say, "It's not a big deal. It's just weed." If it's not a big deal, then why do you do it? Why do you spend so much time and money on it?
Even worse, it's something that could land you in jail or cost you a heavy fine. If it's "just weed", then why do it? Why risk so much?
I'm qualified for Boston this year, and thinking about eating a brownie right before the start, so I can let it kick in over the course of the race. Anyone ever try anything like that?
vape every night, never been faster

Have you considered that maybe people that smoke weed have the same thoughts regarding alcohol? I'm glad you started your post with "I've never understood smoking marijuana," as I'm trying to read your thoughts as genuine curiosity rather than "holier than thou" preaching.
Can you take the bolded paragraph above and substitute "weed" or "smoke weed" with "alcohol" and "drink alcohol"? And then answer the questions you've posed? Spending $15 for a gram of weed that lasts me a month (yes, I'm a light-weight) is pretty comparable to spending $15 on a cheap case of beer, no? I enjoying getting stoned from time to time as a way to relax after a 10 hour work day and 60 minute hard run. I'd guess we aren't too different other than our means of relaxing.
As for the OP's questions, I am a 28 year old male, I smoke 1-2 times a week and run an average of 50-60mpw throughout the year. I've recently gotten my marathon down to 2:39.00. The occasional joint or beer keeps me balanced, as it provides a nice mental break from the often draining work/training schedule.
Weed doesn't affect you emotionally or mentally?! hahah what?? Surface level thinking? You have obviously never smoked weed or you would know the main thing it leads to is INTENSELY deep thought and introspection. I don't play xbox. Mom doesn't clean my room either. You probably think alcohol is peeerrfectly fine don't you?
Oh LR. You're so painfully middle class. Opinions like lumbering dinosaurs around here.
What was that about the beer mile? Just lol.
And to OP, a vape is a very good idea. It gets you the good stuff with very little of the bad, making it even less dangerous than alcohol or pretty much any other recreational inebriant. It also makes your weed last much longer, and if you save the leftover vaped weed you can cook with it very effectively. A cookie before a long run is one of life's grandest pleasures.
It also vaporises the THC componenent preferentially to other cannabinoids, lending more of a 'clean' and 'active' buzz. Think less 'stoned' and more 'high'.
I myself find it increases endurance, while having no net effect on speed. You find a lulling rhythm between your legs, lungs and arms and get lost in the pleasure of flying on your feet in the sunshine and clean air. You are totally relaxed and it's an entirely recommended experience.
Your experiences running high sound like bill Rodgers when he ran. That dude was born high. Asking letsrun if it's okay to smoke weed... Are you high?
Just like for sexuality and many other aspects of our lives, I believe people have "ganja" life cycles. So, in the beginning, when your lungs are fresh and you're young, then this sort of substance will do you good in making you slow down, ponder concepts like "home," "joy," "sequencing" and "art." These lessons are very important and should be applied to running and lifestyle afterwards. But, deep in the life cycle, aside from intermittent use to reflect, relax, physically and cognitively heal,
the pulmonary route (which is actually the most viable and safest route),
even assuming vaporization (no combustion is allowed!) of fine, pure, high grade material (which is also a must for safety),
there are physical costs,
which I note empirically,
which would be the minor hijacking of circulatory vessels along the neck,
and similarly, blood-brain barrier detrimental effects, etc.,
as well as effects on lung capacity (try the hold-your-breath test or bobbing in the pool, etc.).
These are effects you should be concerned of, for performance and health, even when your officially sanctioned regimen of cannabis consumption (in regions where it is legal of course) is done according to plan (proper set and setting, healthy productive lifestyle, good mood and life management, etc.).

Oh, addendum: wrapping up the idea of life cycles,
the implication is that lessons learned (or that should have been learned) need to be integrated later.
When we're young, we can put our lungs or our bodies (in the case of cannabis or sexuality) through a lot, but we must learn lessons on how to arrange our affairs prosperously and not be untaught reckless wastrels in the long run. This will benefit our life fulfillment and our running training as well.
no
Just so happens Bill is a hero of mine.
I guess to speak of the debate more broadly, the visceral reactions some people have to weed is always very illuminating, and it's no surprise they are almost invariably moderated by upbringing. If someone is brought up to believe it's the waster's bolthole and the dead-head's security blanket, then they will continue to belive that no matter what evidence to the contrary is placed before them. It clearly is an article of dogma rather than rational appraisal. However, the idea is now old-fashioned and getting older by the second.
The danger is a reaction has emerged to the blankly insane propaganda of the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s... good lord it never ended. This danger is the counter culture, who were lied to and told it was the devil incarnate, now believe it entirely safe. Of course, it is not. Much better than alcohol (if I had a shot for every pipe, which are roughly equal in strength, I would 100 per cent no doubt have a wet brain and be entirely unable to care for myself), but not a cure for every disease known to man either.
So there is an upcoming stream of people for whom weed becomes a problem and are blind to the dangers. To me, this is perhaps the worst long-term effect of anti-pot hysteria. There is no moderation of opinion in the public sphere.
Check this thread for details. I don't know why I am continually surprised at how conservative this place is. Perhaps because to me, to be a runner is to be like Bill. : )
i HATE running stoned, feels like forever not sure why everyone else likes it. but smoke all you like youll be fine unless youre killing like 2 plus grams every day
No, I don't, as weed relaxes me too much, and I don't like the effect from THC in general. I do vape some cbd cartridges from time to time to relieve pains in bones (via Oilax Cito https://gypsyvapes.com/oilax-cito-pro-2in1-vaporizer ), but never associate it with running.
