19:16 for the win.
19:16 for the win.
it gon' be muddy!
I fugured that into the predict. She'll win by 10 seconds
I have a sinking feeling Abbey is going to bomb the race this weekend. Too much mounting pressure. She'll choke like Barringer did her senior year...
Does Abbey strike you as mentally weak? Didn't she double at indoor NCAA's earlier this year? There's more pressure trying to double than winning a single XC race. I suspect Abbey will be doing more of this on Nov. 23.

She doesn't strike me as a headcase
disagree, The XC Championships is the Ultimate Distance runner championship!...milers, 800 specialist, 2 milers, steeplechasers, etc.....a lot more pressure, in T & F you can hide amount all the events going on, but not here! Only one event in town! One race, one event, ONE WINNER!....pressure..YES! A LOT MORE!
How often to 800/1500/3000SC "specialists" win the NCAA XC title? That almost never happens (Sheila Reid). Did Jenny Simpson or Emma Coburn ever come close to winning an NCAA XC title? The last big time miler to win the men's NCAA XC title was Joe Falcon way back in 1987.
^^ Yes. Jenny Simpson was 2nd to Sally Kipyego twice.
the point is their is only one winner! ONE..only one...in the T & F their are dozens and dozens of winners
here we have....ONE RACE, ONE CHAMPIONSHIP, ONE STAGE, ONE WINNER...equals a lot more pressure!
and everyone is watching!
at T & F events.... people/fans are watching different events...not here...ONE EVENT! ONE WINNER....winner takes all!
o
So many freaking things can go wrong in a cross 6k race!
that's right, you can't come back tomorrow and chase another title or help the relay.....there is only one title here...THE PRESSURE IS HUGH
all the fans know the sport here, the favorites, teams, individuals, etc.....this is distance runners championship sort of speak
BTY: if muddy...20:01
if not muddy....19:09
Abby....hopefully Hall won't get into abby's head like the FS runner did Jenny.
If Abbey D falters, who do you see picking up the win?
I can't see Abbey D' not winning. She is in way better shape than she was last year when she was injured for most of the season and had to cross train until regionals. She still came in 2nd by .7 seconds and there is no one else running this year as good as Betsy Saina. Her 5K PR is 25 seconds faster than Emily Sisson who has the next fastest 5K PR.
Only injury or illness can stop her...GO Abbey D... 3rd in '11, 2nd in '12 and 1st in '13!
I hope the course is very muddy :)

Agreed. That was the point of my earlier question about who wins if Abbey D doesn't. Emma Bates? Alexa Efraimson banditing the race?
abby may win....but don't understimate Marielle Hall from texas, each week she seems to improving a lot
19:12
If she has an off day Jordan Hasay pulls a kip litton and wins while disguised as Kayla Beattie from Arizona (yes they look pretty similar)

Interesting point. Hadn't been paying attention to Ms Hall. Impressive win at Regionals - what's her background?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
