HOw do you fell.
Q: How do you feel.
A:I am happy because I got the course record.
Q: How were the conditions:
A: The conditions were very good.
You put a mic in front of an American and most of them just won't shut up. Is this a language or culture thing?
I lived with a Kenyan marathoner, and knew several other pro-level Kenyans (one on my college team, another a former member of that team still in town finishing his degree).
Despite that they were very good runners, each with vastly different personalities (one highly religious, another a big partier, etc), one thing they had in common was modesty. They did not make things complicated, just simple statements and answers like you heard in the interview. Also, they're not the type to make elaborate excuses on a bad day.
So, I think it is a cultural thing...

It's a marathon, anything can happen. Ritz was running a great race and then he blew up. He's not the only guy to fall apart today, that's just what happens sometimes.
It's hardly ever mentioned when the kenyans fall out. Let Ritz blow up though and look out...
Sub 2:20
Ritz final miles
35K 01:45:50 15:54 05:08 11.73
40K 02:02:29 16:39 05:22 11.20
Finish 02:09:47 07:18 05:22 11.21
ran slower, but place higher than last year... won more money!

What is he supposed to say? He was asked questions an he answered them. Verbiage does not equate to content.
2:19:59 ridiculous for jeptoo
future WR holder maybe for legal pacers?
2:19:59 = 40K bonus.
I guess that they need you working for Nike so that they could have a good coach!!!

Wow. Some real blow ups. Some stupid racing up front to, as many in front were acting antsy around halfway through, using up energy inefficiently.
Yea, not a great time. But 5th in Chicago is great.
Anyone have a name on the dude doing the skeleton dance in the blue Seattle Running Company (?) singlet? Dude did NOT get chicked!
Was that Travis Boyd at 2:19:58 ish finishing right in front of Jeptoo? He was looking rough, arms and legs all over the place.

Ritz didn't totally blow up. His second fastest marathon ever, I believe.
He had a good (if not quite perfect) race. 5th place in Chicago is nothing to sneeze at.

Not all Kenyans are the same.
He's speaking in a second language.
I think the agents should give a guy some media training ie don't have 1 sentence answers.
He answered the questions.
