All he had to do was stop running and dropping out of marathons.
He's still a force on the roads.

I realize that Geb's strategy since he lost his ability to do speedwork has been to push the pace, but in general he has always had the courage to take risks in order to get world records and that is how he has dozens of them. Bekele did it twice outdoors and Farah has none.
Not to pick nits, but Bekele has set world records 4 times (5k outdoor, 5k indoor, and 10k outdoor twice).

According to the documents I read, Haile is at least 61. Born in 1951.
45? Nope.
53? Try again.
61? Wrong.
Haile is actually turning 66 this November.

That really is almost unimaginable. But it is Haile. Do you think he can break the M100 record when the time comes?

He will be what, 102 by Tokyo in 2020? Certainly he can do it, yes.
I stand corrected. I forgot about that first 10k record.

I double checked your calculations, looks to be about right.

And he ran it in trainers...
I talked to an Ethiopian nurse who claims he was born in 1945, placing him north of 67.
Geb fought in my grandfather's platoon at El Alamein, but to be fair he was barely more than a kid then.
My grandfather, that is.
Funny, the hospital I volunteered at in Asella has records that has Geb's birth dated in 1941. He's gotta be over 70.
I swear he's 75 if he's a day over 1.

Probably the greatest master's performance in history. I'm sure there is some better age-graded runs, but to run 1 hour and knock 2 minutes off a WR - Incredible. Shows that while the old guys aren't likely to win against the younger crowd, they can still be in the thick of it. Geb's run would have won most half marathons out there.
Well, Andres Espinoza´s M40 WR of 2.08,46 is rather strong.

Something seemed off so I triple checked and realized that we have two leap years before 2020 so he will actually be 104 by Tokyo
with you all the way.
geb is a phenomen.
considering also that he prolly is older than 40. i´d say closer to 45 than 40.
he has been around forever. he can do maybe 27.30 on th 10 K? and 13.15 on the 5 k? he is a role model. no doubt.
Dude you're way behind. It's common knowledge Geb is pushing 80.
