Social Security COLA for next year already a lock at 4%; probably 6.5%. ( 6.5% would be the largest since 1981 )
Great. Too bad my pension has no such benefit.

Why not? Because it’s private rather than government?
All eight indexes on our world watch list posted gains through June 14, 2021. The top performer is France's CAC 40 with a gain of 19.8%, our own S&P 500 is in second is with a gain of 13.3% and Germany's DAXK is in third with a gain of 11.7%. Coming in last is China's Shanghai with a gain of 3.4%.

Yes.
File under $hit you don't see often; XLB
15:07:15 $ 85.10 352
15:07:15 $ 85.10 500
15:07:15 $ 85.0692 1,610,137
15:07:15 $ 85.10 100
Then XLU
15:08:55 $ 66.65 200
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:55 $ 66.645 100
15:08:54 $ 66.645 100
15:08:52 $ 66.6884 2,066,768
15:08:52 $ 66.645 197
15:08:52 $ 66.645 100
15:08:52 $ 66.645 289
15:08:52 $ 66.65 200
So some one sells 1,610,137 shares of XLB ($136,973,066) and then some one buys 2,066,768 shares of XLU ( $137,829,451 ) a minute later. Most likely the same firm, very rare to see price out 4 decimal points. This transaction was on a dark exchange.
Friday is Quad Witching and than S&P Index rebalance.
Hey GoI, maybe the Stock Market is eating those Oregon Mexican Food Truck "burritos".

Yes.
That sucks. Do you not get a pension from your teaching and coaching years?

I opted for the 403b alternative at initial employment. So I received the benefit as a rollover. Unsure if that was the optimal choice.
what's your takeaway from that trade?
Some one doesn't believe inflation is a problem or a momentum trade; XLU has been up 5 days in a row while XLB has been up only once the last 5 days. ( Which could also show a large number of people have the same macro outlook about inflation.)
Last Wed XLB had 3 large buy blocks; 234,461; 403,991 and 352,723. Now this week, besides yesterday's sale, there was a large block sale of 389,986 on Mon.

Oh well. At least you should have a nice SS bump to look forward to next year.

I think there's a lot of talk out there about a mini-slowdown in terms of GDP growth...the yield curve has flattened a bit after steepening for a while, stocks have gone practically nowhere for 8 weeks, etc.
I wouldn't be surprised to see some people taking profits and making some dry powder or at least buying less risky assets.
I see the attack dogs going after Powell using some really weird and dishonest stats to show the market has performed much better under his predecessors.
He took the office in Feb 2018. The Dow is up @ 50% in 3+ years. What a disaster he has been for the market
The market only goes up. Even the Troll knows this thread is dead.

Stocks only go up
this'll give you some nightmares.
drawing multiple parallels between the start of the dot com meltdown in march 2000 to the ARKK meltdown in March of 2021.
the idea in 2000 was that if the dot coms melt, the smokestack companies would be fine. Didn't work that way, as the econ slowed and most stocks dove.
Right now we're thinking the same...'who cares if TSLA dives...tradtitional companies will do fine.'
But will they?
