There are a lot of bottoms on the way down. And then there will be the bottom of bottoms.

Days like today are when you sell naked calls to FOMOers and boomers who are convinced "we're in the clear! Great buying opportunity right here. See son, buy low, sell high, that's what I always say!"
That was yesterday.

how do people look at a 50 or 75 year chart of the US stock market and conclude that we are the marks?
the stock market is the greatest wealth creating machine ever created. all you have to do is stick with it. I suppose that's not so easy.[/quote]
Talk to me after the meltdown.

vanguard total stock market index 1 yr: +3.55%
Hussman 1 yr: +3.97%
And this is after a 10% drawdown.
just not very exciting, sorry
agip,
Put this on your tickler file for a review in one year.
Have a good Thanksgiving. I have a Turkey Day 5k in the morning, ran 22 last year hoping for 28 this year. Stuff happens.

What an exciting day (not). I also get the added dread of being assigned if TQQQ hits 45. Probably shouldn't have sold all those calls

It's already there.
Happy T-day to you also. I know you have much to be thankful for, and a few things to resent, healthwise.
Good luck at the race. Sorry to hear you are slower than last year but next year is a new year.
I had a good running season but disappointed in my last big fall race. Which is probably good since it will put a bit of a fire under me to do well in indoor track. Next big race is an indoor 5000 in mid-January, so I have some time to train hard.

I'm mostly just bitter because I was shorting John Deere. Turns out that literally everyone else on Wall Street was too so I have to anxiously wait while everyone unwinds until my strike price number gets called. Added to that is the fact I have it in 11/23 puts.
Missed EPS
Missed revenue
Lowered guidance.
Up 5%

I was a professional short seller from the years 2001 to 2007, when I quit out of disgust. Right before the market fell 50%. Ack.
Shorting is absurdly hard - the timing is the problem. You can be dead on right, but the way shorting works...you have to get the timing dead on too.
