I missed that the coach's mom has a position on the school board. Still, this sounds ridiculous to me. Could someone name the school maybe?

Hi,
Some serious advice.
1. Write a thoughtful, unbiased article in your local paper to spread awareness about this issue. Get opinions from all parties involved to understand the thought process behind all decisions and be fair in your writing.
2. Realize that there are many ways to get "noticed" by colleges. If you run well enough, it won't matter if you miss a certain meet. The truth is life is too short to cry over spilled milk. The new coach sucks, I get it. But you don't. If you establish leadership on the team, others will gravitate towards you and the team will be better. And this does NOT need to conflict with the current coach.
3. You haven't mentioned any details about her coaching abilities. I'm guessing you would say she's bad. Even more the reason to man up and work with her to make a better team. Making the best of a bad situation is a characteristic of a great leader. Be one.
She's 20. Cozy up to her, tap it, tape it, post it. She's gone, problem solved.
To clarify, the meeting was held immediately after a Boosters club meeting, which the mother is a part of. Even so though, the coach's mother still comes to all the meetings. It's obvious the daughter doesn't know anything and it all comes through the mother, though. I think I already said this but one Assistant Principal is on our side, one isn't.
The most recent update is that 4 people from our team are now being allowed to attend the meet (the top 4 guys). There was a meeting involving the same parents, the coach, her mother, and the one assistant principal. I wasn't there but apparently the mother whispered to the father of our good senior that, "Don't worry, next year @$%# (the sophomore) will be able to go." So obviously they have something against us.
Being nice to the coach is what we'll continue to do, but it's not getting us anywhere. The team is just falling apart even more.
We're into the meet now but we still think we'll try to go to the local newspaper and try to get an unpublished story written, for what it's worth.
I don't know if saying the school's name would help at all though, but no, it isn't from Virginia, and yes, this situation consistently is robbing potentially good runners from a future in running.
When I say the one assistant principal I mean the one who was on our side, and basically told the coach that she has to let us in this time.
