It doesn't matter. History has ebbs and flows. The runner still has to toe the line on that day and Rupp did, and beat every single athlete in the world, including the Africans who did or did not toe the line -- something they'd like not to remember.
You can only race who toes the line.
And Rupp's Silver Olympic Medal is FOREVER.
