this race is fantastic for the sport.
moe is now rivaling bolt as king of the track, at least in the minds of the in the know track community and probably everyone in great britain.
also moe and bolt are really unknown quantities at 600m.
moe trains over 400 and 800 sure but he can't really be sure about his 600m ability because he wasn't in the know about his real 1500m ability till last week.
bolt does run the 600m in training but it has to be slow comparatively speaking.
while bolt has excellent potential at 400m he's tuned for all out sprints with some indurance. he does struggle a bit in his 45 mid 400m attempts of late.
if bolt comes through in the 600m race in 48 he'll be ok till 500m then he's in trouble. the question is only about how much he will slow down. i',m guessing that a 48 mid plus a 13 mid second next 100m and a final 14 second 100m would be the best that bolt could do - that is without specific training.
farah can go 800m in 145 for sure now. and we have to give him a 49 flat 400m too. this is a simple calculation because no one has ever run 328 without this kind speed - at a bare minimum.
i'd seeing farah going out in 51 flat and coming home in 26.
with these scenarios playing out, bolt is the winner with farah tracking him down and barely missing him at the wire.
however with this said, i'd take moe today in the race, you have to take the man who is defying the odds and breaking the records.
final point. if bolt does the race in the middle of the off season, it would be great for him to look at some specific training for the race and he'd start to get some idea if he'd ever want to run the 400m.
at the end of the day, something will probably happen and this race won't come off.
we'll see.
