Front-running has become sexy in the 800M after Rudisha has repeatedly shown that this a sure strategy for a confident runner. Even before this race, I have always felt that Symmonds could medal more times than he could count by just not being in the very back (as he does 9/10 times). His closing has always been great but I never doubted that a fraction of a second faster in the first 400 would eat away his finish; with his endurance right now, Symmonds medals at the championships if he runs this way.
