Well, that was lame.
Well, that was lame.
Wow. Mary Cain really poured it on in the last 100. She was too far back in the last lap but I'm sure she learned something from this experience.
Finished 5th?
5th for cain. why was she running in last in lane 2? i love the british announcers who aren't afraid to say that the race was very lame.
Cain was in last, 2 seconds back, with a lap to go and really didn't do much in a 4:08 race. Uh oh. She must be totally overtrained/overworked from St. Moritz. She just had nothing today. Her first bad race. And then the leader and the Moroccan had the Kenyan in a perfect box on the final turn and the leader moved out in her lane just enough for the Kenyan to get through and bam, the latter wins and the former fades to fifth. Just foolish, foolish racing.
Prob a good experience for Cain- passing 7-9 pros in the last 100 has to be fun. And a lesson to push lap 3

Cain went from last to 5th in the last 150. Not a pretty race, for sure, but she beat a lot of professionals.
Is Cain a Pro?? Does she keep the $2500 she just won??

how can you say she "had nothing"??? she passed more than half the field in the last 150 meters. she ran a dumb race and will learn from it. she can't sit in last in an international race and expect to outkick everyone in the last 200 like she can in us races.

What does it matter if they are professionals? She has just as many or probably greater resources than they do.
Hasay's race suggests she's ready for 15teens for 5000. Given the endlessly long season she has already has, this is big-time.
the rotating diamond on the diamond league website really looks like CHEAP website design, the whole website is plain ugly

15teens isn't big time though

Leader to leader the last 400m was in just 62 seconds in a high 4:08 race. Yet, Cain did not come close, 1 second off. This was not a stellar field. Cain has more than enough speed to run 60 or under in that race. Leader to leader the 300m close was just 46 seconds. What was Cain doing well off 2nd to last with a lap to go and why could she close in only 61 at best off that pace? That race was tailor made for her. She should have destroyed that field. But she'll be fresh for world's, at least.
It would be a 30 second improvement. That's impressive.

Unless you're Leo.
Hard to tell if she just wasn't feeling well (my guess) or whether she was just giving them too much respect. Temp was 75F, very fast track. It was probably warmer when she ran her 4:04 at Occidental.

Good God!
How long has Mary been training with Alberto? Where does she live and how long has she lived there? How many professional, world class races has she been in?
B-Mart is ridiculously good looking
and that's a ridiculously impressive run
wow.
Kinda irritating how the announcer pronounces Martinez.
