This is exactly the same schedule as the Women's team; that has not been the case recently, but the objectives are more similar this year. Plus, this may reflect the joint nature of the programs. In that case, the men might not be going to some of those meets.

Every year there seems to be a thread similar to this about Wisconsin having a down year and not winning the Big Ten. But every year Wisconsin wins the Big Ten and does well at nationals. I don't see why this year will be any different.
What Mick Byrne does so well compared to other coaches in the NCAA is he has very good XC teams that run their best at the end of the year.
Mick Byrne wins every year, everywhere. Why should this year be different? He consistently fielded top ten teams for 22 years at Iona. How the hell do you gets kids to go to Iona?
All he has done at Wisconsin is win five straight Big Ten Titles, the NCAA Championship in 2011 and runner up last year.
His gap is in upper classman. He had a strong recruiting class for XC this year with Kromer, 10th at NXN and Hirsch,1600 and 3200 champ in Wisconsin and Sullivan from TX, 20th at NXN. Those kids will all red shirt but will be factors in the future.
Until somebody beats them, and you know everybody wants to, they are still the team to beat. Michigan and Illinois look like good teams that should contend.
Last year Wisconsin would have struggled to qualify for nationals if Mo and Reed redshirted. (which Mick was considering)
Now they are gone.
This year will be the first year Wisconsin has zero xc returners who have proven themselves to be legit on the xc course.
sure they have hatz and finnerty but not every great miler is great at the 8k/10k.
Wisconsin is a great program. But you are naive to think this 2013 roster is a top tier team based on the XC experience.
In order for Wisconsin to have a good year. They will need breakout performances from all 7 guys.
Sure it can be done. But it is not a definite.

The Top 15 streak is at 33 years.

They're going to make it. They always assemble some ragtag team of "only" 24 flat guys who can certainly place top 30 at regionals even when the team is having an off year. I don't know how they do it, but they always do and will again.

I don't know about Wisco but Notre Dame lost a lot of talent. I think Grady (an AA) is returning, though. But they definitely lost Rae and Malette. Recruits are strong (one FL finalist as a jr), but probably won't make an impact this year. They're very deep and could be really good next year and beyond.
Gotta call BS on OK State. I know they have a good frosh and a D2 1500 champ transfer, but how can you bet against the champs (CO) when they return literally everyone?
Also, Stanford is gonna be scary with Korolev from Harvard. I'll assume McGorty gets stronger and Keelan is sub 15 5K guy, too. And, they had a ridiculous recruiting class.
Barring injuries, I think everyone's running for 3rd...
