Been a long time since the Pirates had the best record in baseball heading into August. Last time the Pirates were rolling like this was my senior year of HS '92. Good times - Pirates made three straight NL pennant series and the Penguins won two Stanley Cups.
And Barry Bonds was a normal-sized man.

I'm a bit torn. The Pirates have had a great season...solid pitching and a good defense. Unfortunately, I'm a huge Reds fan so I can't totally get behind the Buccos. I'll be rooting for the winner of the wildcard game to take down the dreaded Cardinals. Anybody but St. Lou.

All these scrub teams like the Reds, Brewers, & Pirates get all excited with their rare season with a winning record. When they actually make the post season they run into the mighty Cardinals who get to put them in their place.
