As someone else pointed out, it would be ridiculous to pick Merga over Bekele, who beat him.
* "any word?"
Definitely not nuts to pick Merga. It greatly depends on the expectation for the race at Moscow. If there's a strong belief the pace goes fast, Merga has demonstated greater fitness this year. The win of Bekele over Merga doesn't prove Merga is worse than Bekele, it simply demonstrates on that day that he looses at that pace level (a slow pace). In my mind Merga is an easy pick. Merga has several strong performances in the last few years, which compares favorably to Bekele.
So you'd pick the guy who has been smoked in the two 10000m he has run this year, by fellow countrymen, as opposed to the guy who has won the two 10000m races he has run this year? Even if Moscow is a fast pace, we've seen that Merga will get worked over by Gebremeskel and Kuma (he did beat Kuma at Pre, in a slower race). So I don't see Merga having any chance at all of medaling. At least Bekele is a wildcard.

Except for the fact that he won bronze in Daegu and has tons of world XC medals to his credit. Not saying that he will win or that he's a better candidate than Bekele. But it's silly to dismiss someone who won a bronze just 2 years ago and recently went sub 27.
i know! it was bullsh%t race and even i could have been 4th place. no wonder he didn't run that fast. plus he said it was super windy and the pacemaker dropped out before 5k so he was solo for half the race. we'll see what happens

Someone in the Belgium race ran a 38? Lol why wasn't I there?
Thanks, stupid Ned.
Does anybody know when they'll officially announce the team?
The heat in Moscow will be a big factor, also with guys doubling up, it should be interesting.
