I'm a male D1 800 meter runner . I previously haven't done much mileage (topped out at maybe slightly over 40 MPW in high school, topped out at about 40 during my freshman year---but for both I was probably usually around 30 MPW).
I want to have a successful indoor season and then a good outdoor one too, but my 1500 seems like its slow for my 800 (4:01 vs 1:53) and I have good speed (split 49 and 50 in HS). I feel like this means I'm aerobically weak (which I wouldn't be surprised at because the 1k is killer for me and I often die in the last 100 for 800s).
Right now I'm doing 45 MPW and hopefully I'll get up to 50 in a week or two and then hold that for as long as I can (maybe around Xmas or so before indoor).
Is this sufficient for aerobic development or is there more that should be done?
Also, does aerobic development help with recovering faster in between intervals and holding on the last bit of races or did I misinterpret other threads on here?
