Recently started transitioning to doing the bulk of my mileage early in the morning. Basically hop out of bed and head out the door. Talking 5am hour.
Great plan for avoiding the summer heat, but the problem is it takes me so much longer to warm up and get loose. The result is that many runs are significantly slower than I typically run my easy miles, yet the effort isn't significantly easier. Even when things do seem to loosen up, harder running efforts seem more strenuous than the same effort later in the day. It's kind of discouraging.
Suppose an obvious solution is to get up earlier and wake up with some coffee or light activity first, but it will be hard for me to get up any earlier and get in the run I need to get in before work and life starts up for the day.
Is this something that will just go away as I get used to it? Advice or suggestions appreciated.
