As much as I wouldn't mind tangling with you just to see if we'd end up wrestling around on the couch I am afraid it might end up like this if you're good at it:

If you've come up with some plan to get me back, that's your choice. I won't fight it. I'm sure there are lots of ways you are able to ruin my life. I'm just going to let you. If that's what will make you feel better you can take away everything I've built here.
this is pretty amusing but my boyfriend's out on a research cruise, so nothing quite this tragic and ridiculous
"Research Cruise," is that what they are calling it these days? ;-)

I did it for a couple of years.
It can be tough training for your arms. Very good for some hand to eye coordination stuff.
Now, does your class eventually result in boxing matches?
That is the tough part...kick asz or be asz kicked.

Any conceivable benefit for my running? Even just as something to mix it up.
I don't think the class will end in actual matches. That'd be fun but probably pretty reckless for me to do. I'm assuming I'll just be beating up punching bags and stuff like that.
It's a core work out when you punch the bag. Proper bag work will have you jabbing left and right at about chin level all the way down the bag into a squat position at knee level then back up again and then back down again and repeat until you throw up.
If your boxing coach isn't doing this to the class then he ain't teaching.

Yes, I feel there's a good carryover. You'll be trained both aerobically and anaerobically depending on how you conduct your bag sessions. Additionally, you work all sorts of upper body/core muscles and it could really give you -great- posture if you don't already have it. It really just makes you a much better athletic specimen. You could possibly do something else on the side for a superior cross training benefit, but since you're coming to Boxing I imagine you want something different/more interesting, which you'll definitely get from this sport. It's also worth noting that there was always more of a spring in my step/stride when I was boxing and I feel like I could attribute it to the jump roping.
For the days you should do it.. I'd say it doesn't really matter. It's certainly something you have to get used to and you'll most likely be a bit burnt the next day. It works a lot of muscles you're not used to working (to that extent, at least) as a runner. But that aside, after a few times it doesn't really affect you anymore. You won't be very tired for your 10/16 milers, especially if you're not competing or anything. I do hope that you take this option as it's a very fun and rewarding sport. Do keep us updated (:
A Duck says he's boxed for two years. It looks like he does box after all!! Thanks for the video.
