The rowers of LR have always been a good bunch for training requests, so here goes!
I'm starting to think about how to prepare for a fun fall of racing, but for various reasons I'm equally committed to performance in both head and xc events. Of course, this will compromise the "best possible" performance in a single discipline and I know that. That's ok.
What suggestions might you all have for training over the summer/fall to maximize overall racing ability? They're similar events (5k"ish") so the aerobic work will cross over well enough I hope, but how often might one do pieces rowing vs. running? Are there specific workouts that are better suited to one or the other? Does anyone have personal experience to share? Thoughts on structuring a training plan or the endeavor in general?
If it matters, HOCR in October is the only rowing event on the schedule (although that's a biggie). XC is spread throughout Sept-Nov. I may hop into a few low-key 1x events just for giggles as well.
Thanks to all! I hope this may start an interesting discussion.
